Planning a visit to New York City? The bustling, endless offerings can be difficult to sift through. ( I should know as I am currently planning a trip for visiting relatives ). With over 200 existing hotels reported in 2022, the competition is plentiful and aggressive with tantalizing seasonal offers and countless amenities. However, my recent experience at the Loews Regency New York has truly changed my perspective.

In the busy streets of the Upper East Side in New York City, the historical Loews Regency New York Hotel holds the spirit of elegance, art, and perfection of service. Its location is ideal being 15-minutes from the Museum of Modern Art and just a short walk to Central Park South.

Founded in 1962, Loews Regency was the first luxury hotel positioned above 42nd street. Classic luxury has pervaded the design and selection of amenities since. The lobby is a great example of the modern mix Loews upholds, where both the trendy and the timeless gather in pleasing melodious murmur.

Guestrooms and Suites

Upstairs are the luxury accommodation and suites. Here you see the historical touch of Art Deco details within the corridor and room decor featuring mature muted color tones and marble accents.

Rooms at the Loews Regency New York feature elevated essentials for any stay: Wi-Fi, flat screen TVs, marble working desks, heavenly beds, and city views to sip your coffee to. These rooms are also very spacious, with plenty of walkway and ample closet space.

My room was the Luxury King, a highly sought after selection I was told, that came with a mini bar, walk-in shower, bathroom amenities by Julien Farel, and my new essential accommodation must-have – plush robes. I spent much of my room time, lounging about in my robe, enjoying the room with a view.

For those who may seek more, their Signature Suites are intensely desirable featuring interiors curated by renowned designers Nate Berkus, Meyer Davis, Rottet Studio and Haynes Roberts. These rooms have a more personalized, stylistic touch that place the guest in what feels like their own private art museum.

However, if you want the utmost VIP experience possible – nothing compares to their Regency Residence. Stately and composed, the absolute meticulous refinement the space exuded was awe inspiring. I had the privilege of previewing the space, stepping foot onto marble floors, column lined walkways, and rooms appropriate for royalty. The penthouse-style apartment contained spectacular views, a mirror yoga room, 5 bathrooms and a state of the art kitchen within its whopping 5,550 square feet.

VIP indeed, the Regency Suite was to be inhabited moments after my visit. I wondered just who it would be stepping upon those marble floors next. Who would be lounging on the leather couches or enjoying the spacious walk in closets and deep soaking tubs? I could only use my imagination.

Amenities and Power at Loews Regency New York

A stay at Loews Regency reflects the desires of New York City’s elite. In addition to their 379 guestrooms, Loews offers guests access to a lavish fitness center, four meeting rooms, a must-visit Julien Farel Restore Salon & Spa and their onsite restaurant Regency Bar & Grill, home to the historical “Power Breakfast”.

The “Power Breakfast” originated from the gatherings that took place in the mid-70s. Here politicians and businesspeople met to discuss ways to improve the city’s financial crisis before the normal workday started. The room where these meetings took place is partitioned away from the regular dining area, providing privacy and, to the outsider, mysterious allure.

Similarly, the Julien Farel Salon & Spa, that provides beautification services to the most powerful professionals, created the “Power Hour”. Individuals can opt to receive three or four services all within an hour’s time. Perfect for business professionals where every minute counts.

While I did not have a chance to experience the Julien Farel Salon & Spa this visit, I did get to sample the menu at the Regency Bar & Grill as well as try several of their newly added No-ABV and Low-ABV drinks from their “Free Spirited” program.

Final Thoughts

The Loews Regency New York Hotel is the perfect example of quiet luxury. From the white-glove service, to the refined design, the guest’s experience is imbued with elegance. As the quintessential New York stay, you can do no better than the iconic Loews Regency New York Hotel.
