When we think about perfume, we usually imagine spritzing a fragrant cloud onto our wrists, neck, and other pulse points. Many perfumes come in oil form, too – and these often have a higher scent concentration. They can be worn on their own, or applied underneath a traditional eau de parfum – and they add a lovely glow to skin. I’m a big fan of perfume oils, especially to amplify my fragrance. Here are my top 3 favorites of the moment.
Rosie by Rosie Jane is a clean, non-toxic scented oil with notes of nude musk and sweet rose. This one is a must-have for fans of Maison Louis Marie No. 4 – Bois de Balincourt and Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume. It smells clean but not citrusy, light but not floral (aside from a hint of rose). It’s a comforting scent that can be worn any time of day, in any setting – it just smells like that one person you know who always smells gorgeous, but not perfumey. I love layering the perfume oil (which comes in a handy little rollerball) and traditional fragrance together for optimal performance.
I recently fell in love with Stella by Tocca, a divine blood orange, freesia, and spicy lily fragrance. When I smell this, I am instantly transported to a rural Italian village, wearing a white linen sundress. I don’t typically love citrus scents due to their tendency to become screechy, but this one is soft, juicy, and lush – it’s quickly become an all-time favorite. Tocca’s Olio Sublime Profumato in this scent is an absolute treat to apply – it is sprayed on, not unlike the eau de parfum version, and absorbs almost instantly. I like to pat it in, then add a light mist of the perfume so this heavenly aroma lingers all day.
For the gourmand lovers, NEST New York’s Madagascar Vanilla is a must. With notes of vanilla bean, vanilla orchid, and a hint of coconut, this perfume oil is a true luxury. The vanilla orchid keeps this from becoming overpowering or too sweet; it’s a masterfully simple fragrance that can be layered under any vanilla perfumes in your collection, but it also smells amazing on its own. Warm and marshmallowy, this oil is certainly a crowd-pleaser and compliment-getter. It comes in a glass bottle with a dropper, making it easy to drip this onto your arms, neck, and décolletage.
