There is something about French cosmetics that makes them so elite. The “French girl” makeup look has been in style for decades, and some of the industry’s biggest brands–Guerlain, Coty, Caudalie, and many more–are unmistakably French. By Terry is no exception; this is a 30-year-old brand, founded by Terry de Gunzberg, that combines skincare with makeup (and started doing so before it was trendy). I had the chance to try some of the brand’s bestsellers, including the new Brightening CC Foundation, all of which are available at Dermstore. Here are my thoughts.
The Brightening CC Foundation has a serum-like texture and offers 24 hours of hydration and radiance. It has a sheer glow finish and claims to improve skin’s radiance by 208%. I tested this out on a hot summer day and, maybe I’m biased (I love serum foundations), but I loved the way this felt on my skin, comfortable and light without that sticky makeup feeling. This is one of those complexion products that won’t hide your skin, but will rather enhance it, provide a glow, and make you feel like your best natural self.
The Brightening CC Serum is the perfect companion to the foundation–you can either mix some of the serum into the foundation, apply it first, like a primer, or even dab a bit on the cheekbones after foundation for a little highlight. I tried the shade Rose Elixir, a beautiful pearly pink, but there are seven to choose from.
To intensify the glow even more, I loved adding a touch of Brightening CC Luminizer, a hydrating liquid highlighter that comes with a little brush on the tip of the product to ensure seamless application. This contains white rose stem cells that neutralyze free radicals and hydrate skin.
To set the base, the Hyaluronic Pressed Hydra-Powder 8HA is game-changing. Featuring 8 types of hyaluronic acid, it’s a powder that will not leave your skin feeling dry and crumbly, but will help you set that glow you just worked so hard to achieve.
My favorite product that I tried is the Baume de Rose Lip Care, a highly-concentrated, rich lip balm that softens without being sticky. It has the most beautiful rose-petal scent, and feels opulent to apply. I love adding just a smidge of lavishness into my everyday routine, and this is the perfect way to do that.
