I was recently in Las Vegas, where the weather was 105° minimum in August, and I was unprepared for that heat! Yes, I had heard stories of Vegas heat, but I psyched myself into thinking that dry heat was better and bearable–it was not.
Fortunately, I packed my beauty bag strategically for the hot heat and fell in love with products that lasted me through my trip.
These five holy-grail products will keep your makeup in place and long-lasting all day on a hot summer day.
ONE/SIZE by Patrick Starrr On ‘Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting spray
The long-wearing setting spray is vegan and made for full beats. You can literally feel the spray doing the job as you use it on your face, perfect hot summer days. The spray also absorbs oil while setting in a matte finish. Use this to seal your makeup and use it in between steps like concealer.
Huda Beauty Easy Bake and Snatch Pressed Talc-Free Brightening and Setting Powder
Many pressed powders can help prolong the cakey look in the heat, but the best one I have tried by far is the Huda Beauty pressed powder and the loose powder. Something about Huda Beauty’s products makes the skin look like a literal Instagram filter with a smooth, seamless finish. The setting powder comes in 8 brightening shades perfect for under the eyes and center of the face. Not only could I apply this powder as the last step in my makeup routine, but I can also reapply it throughout the day and night. I would 1000% recommend it to anyone in warmer climates.
Caliray So Blown Blurring & Hydrating Collagen Peptide Primer with Niacinamide
I was recently introduced to the Caliray primer as a gift and was pleasantly surprised at how much I relied on it when the temperatures were not in my favor. The best thing about the primer is that it blurs, so while it is a fantastic base for makeup and pores, it also has key ingredients to protect and promote health amongst the skin barrier, like collagen and niacinamide. The primer helped my makeup last all day in my T-zone, where I typically get sweaty. It also gives a nice silky matte finish, making it look natural.
e.l.f Brow Lift Wax
If you’re still into the bushy full brow look, as I am, you could have trouble finding a brow gel/wax that keeps the brow hairs in place. Luckily, the e.l.f. brow wax with an extreme hold is the real deal. The wax kept my brows in place all day and gave the laminated effect I love without sweating out.
Shiseido Clear Sunscreen Stick SPF 50
Before stepping out in any heat, I recommend sunscreen for the face. The clear sunscreen stick from Shiseido glides onto the skin as a hydrating primer, leaving the skin fresh and renewed while protecting it from the sun. It’s perfect to use before and over makeup at any time. I also love how the packaging and size make it durable and accessible anywhere.
