Understated, natural makeup has its time and place–but sparkle is so much more fun. Recent launches in the beauty industry have all pointed to the same conclusion: that, right now, shimmer is in.
Charlotte Tilbury recently launched the Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint Hydrating Foundation Stick, which offers natural, sheer coverage and enhances skin’s luster. If you’re a fan of the Hollywood Flawless Filter, you will love this new product. It’s similar to that liquid glow-booster, but in stick form. The formula contains hyaluronic acid and vitmin E, as well as daikon radish seed oil, which reduces the appearance of wrinkles. While this product might be too glowy for some, I absolutely love it. It melts into skin, giving it that overall highlighted effect without adding any shine–you’ll be lit-from-within.
Another new product from Charlotte is the Beautiful Skin Island Glow Lip & Cheek. I tried the shade Beach Peach, a muted, warm-toned pinky peach that reminds me of an old favorite blush of mine, Ladyblush from MAC. Claiming to mimic the shades the sun naturally places on our cheeks, the varying shades of these blushes certainly make a beautiful sunset.
Speaking of highlighted skin, Saie just launched a new shade of their Glowy Super Gel: Roseglow, which I’ve been wearing on my cheeks dabbed over blush to add a pinky sheen.
This multipurpose illuminator took the internet by storm with the shade Starglow; it went truly viral. I love using Starglow as a subtle highlight (cheekbones, bridge of nose, and all over the eyelids) or mixing it into the Slip Tint Tinted Moisturizer, a hero product of mine with SPF 35. This tinted moisturizer can be applied with fingers or a sponge and is perfect for everyday, especially those work-from-home days when you don’t feel like putting on foundation.
The third shade of the gel, Sunglow, has a bronzing effect and can be used in a variety of ways: you can mix it in with the tinted moisturizer; wear it alone to give your skin some color; or, you can apply it like a bronzer. It’s sheer and subtle, which is how I prefer my makeup looks.
Anastasia Beverly Hills recently launched their Cosmic Collection, which offers products with multi-dimensional shine. I tried the Cosmic Ethereal Eye Gloss in two shades. Supercluster is a beautiful transparent baby blue with duochrome reflects. Rather than packing a lot of pigment, it will provide your lids with a sheer, comfortable shine.
Supernova is a light, iridescent pink. You can wear the shades separately or mix them together for more intense color.
I’ve been enjoying wearing the eye glosses with my new favorite highlighter from the brand: the Iced Out Highlighter, a powder that is super cool-toned, something I find very hard to find (no champagne tones here!). It is shimmery but not glittery, and will be absolute perfection for anyone with a lighter skin-tone with rosy undertones.
There is also an Iced Out Stick Highlighter, a smooth and creamy illuminator that comes with a brush on the other end. It’s easy to blend and offers a subtle luminosity. The stick version of the shade is a bit darker, but still stunning.
