The Beauty News NYC staff have long been fans of FABA Collection, known as a beacon of light in the slow fashion community, combining Ane Howard’s stunning artwork with good quality fashion items, including dresses, tops, shoes, and bags. And so, I was very excited to get the opportunity to connect with the artist herself and ask her everything I have been wanting to know about her fashion line, artistic process, and more. Enjoy below our exclusive Q&A with Ane Howard, Designer and Founder of FABA Collection!
How do you approach the integration of your fine art into the wearable art collections offered by FABA Collection, and what is the core message you aim to convey through this fusion?
Ane: Integrating my fine art into the wearable art collections at FABA is an organic and deeply personal process. Keep in mind that FABA stands for Fashion Art By Ane. Each piece begins as a painting or illustration, inspired by nature, human emotions, or social themes. This artwork is then carefully adapted to fabric, ensuring that the original emotion and message remain intact. The core message I aim to convey is that art is not confined to galleries; it can be a part of our everyday lives, enriching our experiences and connecting us to deeper truths. Wearable art allows people to carry a piece of that narrative with them, making a statement about who they are and what they value.
What inspired you to launch FABA Enterprises, a luxury boutique dedicated to wearable art, and how has it evolved since its inception in 2022?
Ane: The inspiration behind launching FABA came from my desire to break the boundaries between traditional fine art and fashion. I wanted to create a platform where art could be experienced in a new, dynamic way. Since its inception in 2022, FABA has evolved into a brand that not only offers unique, limited-edition pieces but also champions sustainability and ethical production practices. I am planning to expand our collections, and to collaborate with various artists, and garnered a loyal customer base who appreciate the fusion of art and fashion.
As an advocate of the Slow Fashion movement, what do you see as the most significant impacts of slow fashion on the environment and consumer culture?
Ane: The Slow Fashion movement significantly impacts both the environment and consumer culture. Environmentally, it promotes the use of sustainable materials and ethical manufacturing processes, reducing waste and carbon footprints. It encourages consumers to value quality over quantity, fostering a culture of mindful consumption. This shift helps reduce the demand for mass-produced, disposable clothing, ultimately benefiting the planet. On a cultural level, Slow Fashion encourages people to see clothing as an investment, something to cherish and maintain, rather than a disposable commodity.
FABA has garnered both national and international recognition. How has this global attention influenced your approach to sustainable fashion and art?
Ane: The global recognition of FABA has reinforced my commitment to sustainable fashion and art. It has provided a platform to reach a broader audience, allowing me to advocate more effectively for environmental consciousness in the fashion industry. This attention has also pushed me to continuously innovate and uphold the highest standards of sustainability in our processes. Knowing that our message resonates on an international scale motivates me to create pieces that are not only beautiful but also make a positive impact on the world.
Your collections at FABA are celebrated for their eco-friendliness and artistic uniqueness. Can you share the process of how you create these exclusive, sustainable fashion pieces?
Ane: Creating our exclusive, sustainable fashion pieces begins with selecting eco-friendly materials such as organic cotton, hemp, and recycled fabrics. The design process is highly collaborative, often starting with an original artwork that is digitized and then meticulously adapted to fabric. I prioritize small-batch production to minimize waste and ensure each piece is unique. Ethical manufacturing practices are a cornerstone of our process, as we work closely with artisans and factories that adhere to fair labor standards. Every step, from conception to production, is guided by a commitment to sustainability and artistic integrity.
Seeing your fashion designs worn by artists like Pietro Lombardo and Pentatonix must be rewarding. How does public recognition of your work shape your creative direction?
Ane: Public recognition of my work, especially by renowned artists like Pietro Lombardo and Pentatonix, is incredibly rewarding and inspiring. It validates the fusion of art and fashion and underscores the importance of what we do at FABA. This recognition motivates me to push the boundaries of my creativity, exploring new themes and techniques. It also encourages me to remain true to our core values of sustainability and artistic expression, knowing that our work resonates with a diverse and discerning audience.
FABA’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond fashion. What future projects or exhibitions are you planning that align with this eco-conscious vision?
Ane: My commitment to sustainability extends to several upcoming projects and exhibitions. I am planning a new collection that incorporates upcycled materials, turning waste into wearable art. Additionally, we are organizing an exhibition scheduled for 2026 that highlights the intersection of art and environmental activism, featuring works from various artists who share our vision. We are also exploring partnerships with environmental organizations to raise awareness and funds for conservation efforts. These projects aim to reinforce our dedication to sustainability and inspire others to join the movement.
Is there a specific item or feature from FABA Collection that you’d particularly like to highlight for Beauty News NYC readers, and why does it stand out to you?

What advice would you offer to aspiring artists and designers who wish to merge their passion for art with sustainable fashion and contribute to the Slow Fashion movement?
Ane: My advice to aspiring artists and designers is to stay true to your vision and values. Merging art with sustainable fashion requires a deep commitment to both your creative passion and ethical principles. Be patient, building a following takes time and dedication. Be open to advice from established fast fashion brands. Try to get financial backers at the beginning. You will soon find out that launching a brand requires funding. Educate yourself about sustainable materials and practices, and always prioritize quality over quantity.
