The Ultimate Hot Girl Summer Travel Essentials

I’m currently packing for a much-needed summer vacation. Although I love traveling, I tend to feel uneasy without access to my entire stash of beauty products–what if I need something I forgot to slip into my suitcase? I thought it would be fun to highlight just a few of the products I’m bringing, even if I might be slightly overpacking.

In terms of skincare, I like to be prepared for any scenario. On this trip I’m bringing Fresh’s Soy Face Cleanser, a really solid everyday cleanser that will work both morning and night, and their Lotus Youth Preserve Dream Face Cream as my all-purpose moisturizer.

I’ve also packed the Skinfix 2% BHA Cleanser to help with those inevitable breakouts that come from being in-flight and the overall stress of traveling overseas, as well as their Skin Barrier Restoring Gel Cream (it’s lighter than most creams, which is perfect for the heat of my destination); last but not least, the Antioxidant Tetrapeptide Soothing Treatment is coming with me (my skin gets irritated on vacation).

Although I can’t wait to soak up the sun, I’m coming prepared and protected with an array of products. First up is the Vacation Shake Shake SPF 50 Mineral Milk, an easily blended mineral sunscreen that doesn’t irritate my skin.

I’ve also grabbed the INNBeauty Project Mineral Sun Glow in Fair-Medium as it acts as a gorgeous, glowy base for makeup and doesn’t get greasy and the new Sun Balm SPF 30 from the same brand. I love that these don’t taste like sunscreen–my favorite of the shades is Pink!

For makeup, I’m aiming for minimalism. With the INNBeauty product as my base, I’ll be warming up my complexion with the new YSL All Hours 24H Hyper Sunkissed Glow Bronzer in the shade 1 (the packaging of this product is insanely luxurious).

For cheeks, I’m packing the new Kosas Blush is Life baked blush in Hype, a warm poppy pink that gives me a slight sunburned effect (in the best way).

I’m also bringing the Benefit Cosmetics Splashtint Moisturizing Dewy Lip Tint in Fresh Squeezed, a long-lasting lip stain that feels so light on the lips and provides that summery just-bitten look. In my handbag I’ll be carrying the YSL Candy Glow Tinted Butter Balm in Nude Lavalliere to add some shine and hydrate my lips.

Hair is always a bit difficult–whose hair behaves well on vacation, anyway? I finally found what might be my new favorite hair line ever in the Oribe Moisture and Control collection. My curls have never looked better–they’re shiny and silky, without feeling weighed-down. I’ll be squeezing the Cleansing Creme, Shampoo, and Intense Conditioner into those tiny bottles, perfectly sized for air travel (that’s how much I love them). I will also be bringing the Supershine Moisturizing Cream as it works for both curly and straight styles.

For those days when the humidity gets the best of my hair, I’ve thrown in a travel size of the Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+: Dust It, a mattifying and lightweight powder that acts as both a styler and a dry shampoo.

Let’s not forget about my personal favorite part: fragrance! Because I am perfume-obsessed, I am bringing two options with me. First, Rose and Honey by Michael Malul, which is fresh, fruity, and fun–absolute perfection for a summer getaway. Floral yet irresistably sweetened with notes of rose petals, cashmere, and honey, I want to claim this as the scent of summer 2024.

I like to have a fragrance for every mood, so I am also bringing something a bit different–7 Virtues Amber Vanilla. This is a comforting blend of pink pepper, pink carnation, skin musks, Ambroxan, and vanilla, and is far from a sickly sweet scent. It’s perfect for those who don’t like the typical summery fragrances but don’t want to be wearing something better suited for cold weather. It reminds me a bit of Glossier You, my favorite perfume of all time, but with more vanilla.

Finally, one of the items I am most excited about on this list is the Sol and Selene Beyond the Horizon Woven Neoprene Sling Backpack in the color Cream. This mini sling bag may look small, but it fits a shocking amount. I’m bringing it as my personal item, and I’m getting genuine pleasure out of how chic and well-made it looks (feeling put-together makes travel so much better). I love that it doesn’t look overly sporty so I can wear it with all of the dresses I packed as well as my sweat-suit outfit for the plane.
