HYUN for Ultra-Luxurious Korean Cuisine

There are Korean restaurants in New York City, and then there is HYUN. Everything about HYUN is a few cuts above the norm since creative thought has gone into every detail of your dining experience from the setting and atmosphere to each course of your feast. Although this is a veritable meat-eater’s paradise, there is plenty for vegetable lovers to savor too. Having said that, serving the finest cuts of meat is really HYUN’s raison d’etre.

Hyun‘s exquisite spin on Korean barbecue is centered on your table’s grill, specifically on top-notch Japanese A5 Wagyu, which is butchered in-house with cuts chosen by the chef for that day based upon what is available, and grilled fresh at your table. HYUN offers 12 different cuts of meat based on each’s specific taste and shape, and their cooking and presentation have been transformed into a delectable art form.

You must try the small grilled cheese squares, either on the meat chunks, wrapped in lettuce, or simply dipped in sauce. The cheese melts in your mouth and tastes uniquely delicious.

The setting is minimalist, tranquil-but-vivacious, and spacious, filled with soothing dark wood, slate, and private rooms that make you feel cozy and pampered. These rooms are ideal for special occasions, romantic meals, or private discussions.

The Hyun-makase is a culinary journey of 12 different pieces of Japanese A5 Wagyu, expertly prepared by friendly waiters at your table. Included are delicious house-made kimchi, lettuce for wrapping meat, salt, wasabi sauce, a noodle dish, and a vegetable salad to balance the heavier Wagyu.

You may also wanted to try a hot-pot Korean dish of uni, rice, truffles, and nori, or thick noodles with cold beef broth. HYUN’s enthusiastic servers will guide you through the entire process and help you make the right choice based on your favored flavors and diet restrictions.

Meat tasting is enhanced with the arrival of Bulgogi (marinated meat) as a second course.

Be sure to save room for HYUN’s sweets, which include a light shiso sorbet and hojicha ice cream, which is a roasted green tea flavored house-made ice cream. Even the restaurant’s bottled still water is the best possible, hailing from an estate in England. Enjoy HYUN’s cocktails and distinctive non-alcoholic beverages, too.

Bring your appetite to HYUN, and you will be richly rewarded in return.
